 2017 Preview 


       Mortimer Jordan completed the 2016 season with a 10-3 record. Last year Mortimer Jordan captured the region six title and a number one seed in the Class 5A playoffs. They finished region play with a 6-0 record. It was the first region championship for the Blue Devils since the 1995 season. Mortimer Jordan lost in the quarter-finals of the playoffs last season to a good Briarwood team by a score of 15-0.

       Over the past two seasons the Blue Devils have gone 23-5 and will be looking to continue that winning tradition. Since 2010, Mortimer Jordan has gone a combined 50-33. Their 60.0% winning percentage ranks 20th in Class 5A over the past seven seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Mortimer Jordan has managed to compile a record of 160-115. Their 58.0% winning percentage ranks 19th in Class 5A and 103rd in the AHSAA.

       The Blue Devils are led by head coach Dustan Goode who is entering his fifth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 37-14 over the past four seasons at Mortimer Jordan. Under his direction the Blue Devils have qualified for the playoffs a total of four times. They have won one region crown with Coach Goode.

       Coach Goode's overall record as a head football coach in five season stands at 46-17 (73.0%). Over the course of his career, Coach Goode's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of five times and won one region championship.

       The Mortimer Jordan Blue Devils will play in Class 5A region six during the 2017 season.

       The Blue Devils should be considered one of the favorites for the region six championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs.

      Senior Hunter Bartlett returns after catching 19 passes for 331 yards and 4 touchdowns.

      The defense returns Junior OLB Daniel Franklin who got in on 128 tackles last season.

      The defense returns Senior SS Daniel Rouse who registered 99 tackles last season.

       The Blue Devils open the 2017 season at home against non-region opponent Cordova on Friday, August 25 at Jimmie Trotter Field. Last year the Cordova Blue Devils finished with an overall record of 9-3 and in third place in Class 4A region six. The Blue Devils lost in the second round of the Class 4A playoffs to Rogers by a score of 21-14.

       Mortimer Jordan and Cordova have met a total of 4 times on the football field. The Blue Devils have a 1-3-0 record against the Blue Devils. They last met in 2016 with Cordova winning by a score of 21-14.
